Upgrade existing SHAP Powerhouse and General Contract Work for the New Paint Shop
BEI Associates, Inc. provided professional architectural/engineering design services and construction follow-up to upgrade the existing SHAP Powerhouse and General Contract Work for the New Paint Shop.  The scope of work includes the following:  Powerhouse Upgrades:  Two existing reciprocating air compressors were demolished completely to allow for the modifications of the existing foundations to install two new compressors.  One air compressor existed at the DCX Parkway Plant, and the second was purchased.  Ancillaries included a new coalescent filter, installation to existing compressed air distribution systems, hook-up to the existing cooling water system, electrical power, and controls, etc.   The New Paint Shop will require a new interface to the compressed air system that will be 2 feet outside of the existing powerhouse at the proposed new trestle, and also requires the design and construction of a new natural gas PRV and metering station and concrete pad that repositions the existing meter.  Main Manufacturing building:  An incoming city water line was relocated to provide for the future installation of a conveyor gallery to the new paint shop.   An existing dock door and two heaters at a abandoned train well were removed.  Employee Underpass, Vehicle Overpass, and Turnstile preparation: In coordination with the site development engineer, a new employee entrance to the site was designed under a vehicle overpass at the east end of the New Paint Shop site.  Security, lighting, heat, and dewatering for the underpass were provided for.
