Scheduled to begin production in 2009, the Saltillo Engine Plant is part of the Chrysler's Group $3 billion Powertrain offensive. This new facility has been designed to produce 440,000 engines annually, with the first of the units ready for delivery in May of 2009.
The project includes a new Power Train engine plant to accommodate the production engines adjacent to the existing Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant. The new Engine Plant will consist of a manufacturing building, a one story administration building, in-plant employee services, a Material Handling Building, energy center, waste water treatment, fluid storage building, guardhouses, truck scale, parking lots, roadways, security fences, scrap and trash storage area, and site landscaping.
In-plant services will include offices, cafeteria, security office, data center, medical facility, locker & shower, and washrooms.
Manufacturing processes will include maintenance, tool room areas, cutter grind, pre-set, CMM, and chemical/metallurgical labs.
Main piping loops include distribution of compressed air, coolants, industrial waste, process water, chilled water and engine oils,
Site work included underground utilities, roads, fire loop, lift station, site drainage and water retention ponds for a 210-acre site.
BEI Associates, Inc., in association with Gala Associates, is providing facility design and engineering. In addition, the SACMAG Group is our Mexican A/E partner in Mexico City that provided Administration Building design.
