M1-Rail

BEI is providing engineering services for the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural Design of the Detroit M-1 Rail Project to HOK, Inc., the Architect for the project.  BEI will be providing our engineering services for 26 station stops along the way and a maintenance facility.

The M1-Rail project is a new light-rail mass transit system being proposed for construction on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. The 3.4 mile line will run from downtown Detroit (Jefferson Avenue) to the New Center Area (West Grand Blvd). The project will include 13 stops along Woodward Avenue with a station on each side of the road at each stop (26 total stations). The project also includes a maintenance facility to service the passenger rail cars. The site locations for the stops and the maintenance facility have yet to be determined. The rail system will be electrically powered by overhead lines (not diesel electric).
