BEI provided architectural and engineering services for a building expansion of an assembly plant and the surrounding site areas. This design/build project involved two building additions and renovation of a canteen and toilet room area. Others provided process design for the oven and Phosphate Systems.
The west addition was a 20,000 square foot oven addition that was elevated 15 feet above a paved driveway and storage area. This addition was supported by a pile foundation system. The elevated building floor was framed with trusses and floor beams. Building mechanical and electrical systems were coordinated with the oven process system.
The other addition, on the east end of the paint shop, involves a 72,000 square foot extension of the DIP Phosphate System. Building consists of spread footing foundation with a truss and purlin frame, metal siding and PVC sheet roofing system on metal decking. Mechanical HVAC and process piping and electrical process lighting were produced to Ford Motor Company criteria and to support the process system.
Site work included roads, underground storm sewer and fire protection piping. Specifications, permit applications construction support and as-built drawings on CADD were an additional part of the services provided.
