Coke Unloading and Handling System
Provided electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, material handling and field engineering for the addition of a coke unloading and handling facility which included a double hopper system for a dual railroad track system within an existing 60 year old facility updated and renovated for this purpose.
Project features include a dethawing shed with 24 million BTU heating capability, unloading pit and hopper system, and material handling to an existing screening station. Other features include automatic car indexing, a car shaker system and dust suppression system controlled through a control pulpit for manual and automatic operation of these facilities and a feasibility study for transporting purchased coke by rail to an existing building, as well as fire system engineering.
Field management services included the development of bid packages, evaluation of vendors' proposals, scheduling of construction activities by establishing precedence-based network, reviewing contractor's manpower resources, performing value analysis, coordinating activities of outside contractors and in-house trade, expediting equipment deliveries, maintaining punch lists and follow-up coordination, assisting in system startup, and collecting and recording all as-built conditions for record drawings.
