BEI provided a range of engineering services for the $150 million renovation of an automotive assembly plant. The plant, which produced the Escort model, was renovated to produce the Ranger light truck. Projects included the design of the interior and exterior train docks including installation of a new train well, and installation of emissions control equipment in response to the addition of new paint ovens which require additional air supply. The equipment was installed in order to meet pollution control requirements. Scope of work included reinforcing columns and tresses.
Engineering services were also provided for roof mounted air house support systems which supply large quantities of air to the paint ovens and spray booths. Work included the design of grillage and support steel beams. Architectural services were provided for design of office space located on a new 5,200 square foot mezzanine for plant engineering and maintenance which includes rest room facilities.
Project included rework of existing heating and ventilation system for area under the new mezzanine, plumbing, sewer lines, and fire protection system.
Additional projects included engineering services for the modification of primary switchyard including transformation of foundation work; engineering services for the design of interior plant 30,000 square foot mezzanines for the following conveyor systems at the plant: E-Coat Delivery Conveyor, White Metal Delivery Conveyor, Dual Pass Prime Oven Delivery Conveyor, E-Coat Bake Oven, and E-Coat Oven Strip Out.
New mezzanines include floor plates, floor support steel and posts, hangars and truss reinforcement, handrails and toe plates, access ladders, and lighting and fire protection below the mezzanines; and engineering services for concrete foundations and ventilation systems. Substations are located at an existing penthouse.
