BEI Associates, Inc. provided architectural-engineering services during the design, construction and installation of the new Beijing Jeep Corporation (BJC) assembly plant located on a greenfield site on the outskirts of Beijing, China in a new suburban industrial zone.  Over 20 years ago, BJC was established as China's first automotive joint venture with an American firm, AMC which later became Chrysler and now DaimlerChrysler.  Due to the growth of the Chinese auto market, there was a need to expand and relocate this production to a new more efficient facility.  The new facility is over 2,000,000 square feet and includes:

•  Stamping
• Body Shop
• Paint Shop
• Trim, Chassis, Final
• Administration
• Test Track
   

The services included assistance with system concepts, layout, plant design, construction and installation of equipment in coordination with our partner, the Engineering Design Department of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).
   

CATARC specializes in the design and construction of automotive facilities in China.  Their clients include BJC, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota along with Chinese auto companies and suppliers such as Changfeng in Hunan, Wanfeng in Shanghai, Southeast in Fujian, Xiali and FAW.  BEI's role was to help with the transfer of North American concepts and best practices, based on BEI's experience with Chrysler assembly plants in North America.
